Welcome To GLOBAL RESOURCES INFORMATION NETWORK Home Page
The Global Resource Information Network is an initiative borne out of a desire by young aspiring professionals to impact positively the development of our community, the nation and Africa as a whole using the tool of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) as a base for synergy amongst people from different fields and backgrounds to achieve this common objective. “GRIN” (acronym for the global resource information network) is a student initiative forming in the Obafemi Awolowo University with links to other African student associations committed to the emergence of a future where exists the freedom to develop the real wealth of our continent, which is not physical or material,-oil, gold, land or diamonds but metaphysical-what stems from the human mind – creativity, imagination, innovation and inventiveness. This freedom, brought about by ICT , to turn thoughts, hunches, insights and dreams into realities not only makes the developed countries of the world wealthy but also keeps them perpetually on the move , open to new things and better ways of doing things. The question is, how can we bridge this large divide between the “free” nations of the world and we still bound?
Thankfully the same ICT that has placed us on the downside of the divide has also made the world into a global village.
The divide would be bridged by using ICT as a tool for our personal development which would build our nation and foster regional cooperation that would ultimately make us genuinely “free” equal partners in the global village.
The task before us is great but it is not impossible. All hands must be on deck. The achievement of real development will come, not through the complacent adjustment of the conforming majority, BUT through the creative maladjustment of a non –conforming minority. The future calls. Will you heed?
